Marvel’s Luke Cage finds showrunner

Netflix and Marvel Television have named the showrunner who will lead the comic book adaptation Marvel’s Luke Cage.

Cheo Hodari Coker will executive produce the first season, and is writing the first two episodes.

His credits include Ray Donovan, and Southland.

In the comics, Luke Cage is imprisoned for a crime he did not commit, but gains superpowers in the form of unbreakable skin and superhuman strength.

Mike Colter will play Luke Cage in the series, which is part of a four-series agreement between Netflix and Marvel.

Marvel’s Daredevil and Marvel’s AKA Jessica Jones will launch this year, with Marvel’s Luke Cage and Marvel’s Iron First debuting next year, before all characters unite for miniseries The Defenders.

Marvel’s Luke Cage, produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios, is due to launch on Netflix in 2016.
