ABC Family’s adaptation of Blake Nelson’s novel Recovery Road has begun production.
The story follows Maddie, who has a reputation as a party girl but doesn’t think she has a problem, until she’s confronted one day by her school guidance counsellor and is forced to choose between expulsion and rehab.
She must then make the difficult decision to live with other recovering addicts at a sober living facility while facing the daily pressures of her teenage life.
Jessica Sula stars in the lead role, with Sebastian de Souza, Sharon Leal, Alexis Carra, Kyla Pratt, Daniel Franzese, and David Witts also in the cast.
The pilot was written by Bert V Royal and Karen DiConcetto, who will also executive produce with Holly Sorenson, Danielle VonZerneck, Craig Piligian, and Beth Miller from Pilgrim Studios.
Recovery Road, which is being filmed in Los Angeles, will air in 2016.
