Evil Dead alumni Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell are now on set for the Starz adaptation of the cult horror franchise.

Production has begun on the ten-part first season of Ash vs Evil Dead, which is being filmed in New Zealand and will air this autumn on the US premium cable channel.

Campbell reprises his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead.  When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons – personal and literal.

The cast also includes Lucy Lawless, Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo, and Jill Marie Jones.

Raimi, Tapert, Campbell and showrunner Craig DiGregorio will executive produce the series.

Raimi, Ivan Raimi, DiGregorio, and Tom Spezialy wrote the first episode. Ivan Raimi is co-executive producer, and Aaron Lam and Chloe Smith are producers.

The half-hour series, due to air on the US premium cable channel later this year, is a follow-up to horror film franchise The Evil Dead.

It sees Bruce Campbell reprise his role as Ash, the chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead.  When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons.

The cast also includes Lucy Lawless, Jill Marie Jones, Ray Santiago, and Dana DeLorenzo.

It is executive produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, Campbell, and showrunner Craig DiGregorio. Ivan Raimi will co-executive produce and Aaron Lam is the producer.

Sam Raimi directs the first episode, which he wrote with Ivan Raimi, DiGregorio, and Tom Spezialy.

Filming will take place in New Zealand.

Starz builds Evil Dead cast

US premium cable network has found the female lead for its latest original series Ash vs Evil Dead.

Jill Marie Jobes will play Amanda Fisher, a disgraced Michigan State Trooper who, after the death of her partner, sets out to find anti-hero Ash (Bruce Campbell) and prove his responsibility for the crime.

But she soon learns that Ash and his friends may be mankind’s only hope against the plague of Evil Dead.

The cast also includes Ray Santiago, and Dana DeLorenzo.

The 10×30′ series, a follow-up to the classic horror film franchise The Evil Dead, is executive produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, showrunner Craig DiGregorio, and Campbell.

Sam Raimi also wrote the series with Ivan Raimi, DiGregorio, and Tom Spezialy.

Ivan Raimi is a co-executive producer, and Aaron Lam is the producer.

Filming is due to take place in New Zealand this spring, with the series due to air later this year.

The US premium cable network has greenlit a follow-up series to the cult horror film franchise, called Ash vs Evil Dead (10×30′).

The project will reunite the original filmmakers – director Sam Raimi, producer Rob Tapert and star Bruce Campbell.

Campbell will reprise his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead.  When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal.  Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.

Ash vs Evil Dead is written by Sam Raimi, Ivan Raimi, and Tom Spezialy. Sam Raimi will also executive produce with Tapert and Campbell. Ivan Raimi will co-executive produce and Aaron Lam will be the producer.

The original Evil Dead film followed Ash and his friends who travel to a cabin in the woods, where they unknowingly release demons intent on possessing the living.

The series will air on Starz in 2015.

Starz will retain all domestic and international distribution rights.

Starz takes off with Airborne

Gideon Yago has partnered with the channel to pen a coming-of-age story set at the dawn of the Vietnam War.

The series follows a young helicopter crew as they fight for survival, sanity, their souls and each other in a country – and a war – that is descending into chaos.

Airborne will be executive produced by Rob Tapert and produced by Aaron Lam.

Starz will retain all domestic and international distribution rights.
