El Salvador walks along Brazil Avenue

Channel 2 in El Salvador has picked up Brazilian telenovela Brazil Avenue.

The series, which tells the story of a woman struggling to reclaim her life from her wicked stepmother, will debut on the Telecorporación Salvadoreña-owned network on January 6.

Sister network Channel 4 is currently airing The Life We Lead and Sparkling Girls, which like Brazil Avenue are from Globo TV and its distribution arm, Globo TV International.

Globo telenovela heads to Mongolia

Brazil Avenue, the Globo TV telenovela, has been picked up to air in Mongolia.

The series is due to debut next month on network channel Edutainment TV and on cable network MovieBox, and will be dubbed into Mongolian.

The series (160×45′) follows a young girl, played by Débora Falabella, who struggles to recover the life taken from herby her terrible stepmother (Adriana Esteves). It is written by João Emanuel Carneiro.

It has previously been sold by Globo TV International and translated in 17 languages.

France moves into Brazil Avenue

Brazilian telenovela Brazil Avenue has been picked up by French networks France Ô and Outremer Première, both part of the France Télévisions group.

The series, produced by Globo TV and sold by Globo TV International, follows a young girl who fights to regain the life that was stolen from her by her wicked stepmother.

Another French channel, IDF1, is also screening Globo’s Irrational Heart.

Globo TV sends telenovelas into Colombia

Two of Brazil’s biggest telenovelas have been picked up by broadcasters in Latin America.

RCN in Colombia has acquired Brazil Avenue from Globo TV International, the distribution arm of the Brazilian broadcaster TV Globo.

Brazil Avenue is the story of a young girl who struggles to get her life back from her cruel stepmother.

It has now been licensed to 106 countries worldwide and dubbed into 14 languages.

Meanwhile, City TV, which is based in the Colombian capital of Bogota, has picked up Gabriela, the remake of the 1970s drama about a young immigrant who captivates everyone with her naïve yet provocative sensuality.

Rustavi 2 signs Brazilian trio

Georgian pay TV broadcaster Rustavi 2 is dancing to a Brazilian beat after acquiring three telenovelas from Globo TV International.

Gabriela, Brazil Avenue and The Illusionist have all been acquired for the network, which will soon be on air.

Based on the original 1970s series, Gabriela (55×45′) is about a migrant worker who mesmerises the people of the town she arrives in. Inspired by the novel Gabriela, Clove and Cinnamon by Jorge Amado, it is written by Walcyr Carrasco.

The format is owned by Warner Bros International Television Production and produced by Globo TV.

Venevision chooses The Life We Lead

Two telenovelas from Brazil’s Globo TV are heading to Venezuela.

Cable channel Venevision Plus has acquired The Life We Lead (aka A Vida da Gent, 70×45′), which tells the story of a promising tennis player who spends five years in a coma after an accident and awakes to a life she no longer recognises. It is written by Lícia Manzo.

The show was previously sold to Canal 13 in Chile, Ecuavisa in Ecuador and Teledoce in Uruguay.

Venevision Plus has also bought Brazil Avenue (aka Brasil Avenida, 160×45′), about a girl to fights to regain the life that her horrible stepmother stole from her when she was a child. It is written by João Emanuel Carneiro.

The telenovela has previously been sold to more than ten territories in Latin America, as well as SIC in Portugal and networks in South Korea, Hungary and Croatia.

Teletica has picked up the series, about a girl who fights to regain the life stolen by her stepmother when she was a child.

Brazil Avenue, which aired in Brazil on Globo TV in 2012, is also currently on air in Portugal, where it is aired by SIC.

Brazilian broadcaster Globo TV has sold one of its biggest scripted hits of 2012 into Uruguay.

Teledoce has picked up Globo telenovela Brazil Avenue (aka Avenida Brasil, 160×45′), which tells the story of a young girl who fights to reclaim the life that her terrible stepmother stole from her.

The Uruguayan network is close partners with Globo TV and currently airs more than 500 hours of its programming every year.

Other acquisitions include Looks and Essence and The Enchanted Tale.

Other recent deals completed by Globo TV International, the broadcaster’s distribution arm, include the sale of telenovela Sparkling Girls to Portugal’s SIC.
